Women and Journalism.
Women dominate journalism schools, but newsrooms are still a different story - Poynter
Drawing on a variety of sources, the authors investigate the challenges women have faced in their struggles to become established in the profession from the midth century onward. With a particular focus on news journalism, the book provides an account of the gendered structuring of journalism in print, radio and television and speculates about women's role in the new sector of online journalism.
L Comparing and women's advancement in journalism in United States and Britain, the book identifies a number of key differences and the shared constraints that operate against women's progression in journalism in both countries. The authors argue that a gendered organization of newsroom cultures means that women are marginal in fields of "serious news" reporting.

Women and Journalism
This text draws together the most robust data from that original study, presenting it in 29 chapters on individual nations and three additional theoretical chapters. The book is the most expansive effort to date to consider women's standing in the journalism profession across the world. Contents organize nations in relation to their progress within newsrooms, with those most advanced in gender equality representing diversity in terms of region and national development. Contributing authors are, in most cases, the original researchers for their respective nations in the Global Report study.
